DANCE STYLES

Jazz - Energetic and fun, consists of leaps, turns and across the floor combinations practiced with various styles and music choices.

Ballet - Graceful, flowing and highly technical. Class includes barre work and centre work and mime.

Tap - American theatrical dance using various rhythmical patterns of foot movement with audible tapping from shoes.

Lyrical -Combines Jazz, Ballet and Modern dance forms. The dancer is to convey the emotion of a song's lyrics.

Acro - Acrobatic gymnastics, which includes tumbling, balance and agility. Gymnastic floor mats are used in classroom practice.

HipHop - Wide range of street dance styles include breaking, popping, locking, krumping and freestyle.

Dance Readiness - Introduces the young dancers to Ballet, creative movement, musicality, rhythm and expression. Skills practiced are appropiate to child's level of physical and intellectual development.

Contemporary - Modern in style. Currently, the popular style we see on "So You Think You Can Dance". Combines Jazz, Modern, Ballet and Lyrical.

Baton Twirling - Thin stick used by drum majors. (Majorettes) Practice includes tosses, wraps, passes and twirls.

Step - Form of Tap dancing using staccato (jingle) taps on shoes. Often associated with fiddle music.
